Working in an office with limited movement, my uncle was able to keep many of the letters he received from family and friends. This book contains transcriptions of almost 200 letters he received in Italy on V-Mail forms.
V-mail was used to save space on overseas correspondence. The author would write on an 8×10 sheet of special paper and place it in the mail. It was photographed by the post office. The film was flown overseas and the letter printed and delivered as a 4 x 6 to the addressee.
These letters depict live in a small rural town for a family, and their family and friends, who were worried about their young man so far from home and so near to danger.
